About FHBC
In the 1990's, a few local fellows got together on the Occoquan Reservoir in Fairfax County Virginia and formed the Fountainhead Bass Club, (FHBC). Several of the founding members are still active in the club today. The club holds tournaments roughly every other Sunday (see Schedule) beginning in March and ending mid to late October. On average, we fish 15 tournaments each year. In addition to the regular season tournaments we hold an annual two day Fall Classic. FHBC has grown considerably over the years and we welcome any & all who are passionate about competitive Bass Fishing to come try their luck with the club. The Occoquan Reservoir, locally referred to as "The Rez" or "The Quan", holds a very healthy population of Largemouth Bass. Not being a stocked water; the Rez consistently gives up 5 lb & 6 lb fish. Along with Largemouth Bass, there are notable populations of Smallmouth Bass, Crappie, Blue Gill, & the occasional White Bass & Yellow Perch. The Rez currently holds the Virginia State Record for Flathead Catfish at 66 lbs, 4 oz; which was caught in May of 1994. Our tournaments are for Largemouth & Smallmouth Bass. The current Occoquan lake record Largemouth is a little over 9 lbs. Not only is the Occoquan Reservoir considered one of THE BEST Bass fisheries in Northern Virginia but consistently ranks high state wide. The average size Bass in the Rez is 3 to 3.5 lbs. Anglers in our tournament frequently bring in Bass much larger. It's not unlikely or in fact unusual to see the occasional 7 lb fish brought to the scales at weigh in. The website is updated on a week to week basis depending on when tournament dates fall; so be sure to come back and check in with us from time to time. Come Join Us!
